Break out your dice, it's tabletop time.
2In honor of International Tabletop Day, I wanted to find out who (like me) enjoys the occasional romp through fictional lands, conquering your friends' plastic models, or filling out laborious paperwork in the name of adventure.
I'm always looking for new games to play, so toss out anything interesting. I've been playing Pathfinder mostly, but I've considered looking into the 40k/Hordes-like games (if I can afford the investment).

Have you ever checked out the youtube series 'Tabletop'? Will Wheaton gets together other geeks and they play a tabletop game. It's actually a pretty cool way to hear about different games. And it's pretty funny.

I have, and I typically enjoy it. Sometimes I get a little Wil Wheatoned-out, though.
The only dice I have is from my home-made set of Liar's Dice... and they're quite dusty :(
I love Pathfinder, it's a really great, versatile fantasy system that takes one of the best tabletop RPG's ever made (D&D 3.5) and makes all the classes fun and generally improves it. Some of my other favorites:
Fiasco
A great game for two reasons:
On each player's turn, they can choose to set up a scene or resolve a scene. If they set up the scene, the other players get to decide if the scene ends well or poorly for that player's characters. If the player chooses to resolve it, though, the other players get to set up a scene - possibly one the player wants their character to fail at.
The Burning Wheel
This one actually hasn't hit my table yet, but the character creation process is fantastic. The book contains a massive list of character "life paths" (jobs, states of living, etc.). You select a certain number of these, so the story of your character's past defines their traits. It's kind of hard to work out the character creation, but it's a fantastic and deep game if you're willing to devote time to it.
Paranoia
THE COMPUTER IS YOUR FRIEND. THIS FORUM IS TREASON.
For quick games I like Ruse & Bruise or Skittykitts.
Kinda the same with me, pathfinder and 3.5 mostly.
I've been wanting to get into Warmachine for awhile, but it's just not financially viable at this point, so that'll have to wait until I get a better job.
My pathfinder group is also getting ready to play Rogue Trader (40k rpg) once our current campaign ends
That's the reason I haven't gotten into 40k either. Just getting into the game would cost you a minimum of $400.
I almost got into 40k once. Dodged a bullet made of money on that one.
@capguncowboy, well, time to break them out.
@ignorant, I'll have to check those out. Never heard of them.
@spitfire6006006, I'm actually about to start Rise of the Runelords soon. I've heard it's a meatgrinder.
yeah we played through it a while back, we made it almost to the end
I would be up for another round of A Game of Thrones. #AGoT
I also dig Shadowrun as well...can't you tell how long I've been playing? #AD&DSecondEdition
I just picked up the Battlestar Galactica board game. Played a friend's copy once before, and it was fantastic. Lots of screaming and cylon accusations. Looking forward to giving it another go, will report back when I do.
By the way, if you've never seen it, you should check out 2250 Things Mr. Welch Can No Longer Do During an RPG.
I like #1 :) We have a player playing Gene Simmons, it'd be good to have a character based on a good musician
Good, but boy do they need to get an editor in there.
