So this is pretty different, and much less polished, but I've been tempted:

You wear this thing that vibrates on the north side every once in awhile. Apparently after a little bit, you just have an instinctive sense of which way is north, which improves your ability to follow directions, maps, etc.
Interesting idea @dave. The design seems like it could be easily confused with the ankle monitors for criminals though.
Excuse me sir, shouldn't you be on house arrest right now? Nope, just enhancing my sense of direction :)
