Making Mediocre's Youtube Subscription Nag Sequence
7You know those terrible sequences you see at the end of Youtube videos, begging you to subscribe to the uploader's channel? Well, (good news, everyone!) I'm working on one of those for us.
I shot footage for it this week, of a backyard science exercise in the Mr. Wizard style. If you're very very bored indeed, you might enjoy a look behind the scenes at how that went:

There are worse things I could have spent 3 minutes on at 6:30 am.
(Yeah yeah, I subscribed, too.)
Ironically, there's no nag to subscribe!
I think this link will subscribe you to these mediocre videos on YouTube (and confirm that that's what you want to do.

Didn't exactly hold me spellbound, but I did listen intently, mainly because I had a hard time hearing it. Maybe in the future make it a decibel or two louder?
Man, the new digs have really upped the special effects budget. Looking good! I can't wait to be annoyed and skip this for many years to come.
I'm going to go with Anna's Hummingbird:
Mostly because I think it's the only one that's supposed to still be in that area in the winter.
needs banana for scale
Little known fact about Anna's Hummingbird: Favorite drink is actually, Beaver Anus Ale
These comments make me wish I could like people's notes
After that most-enjoyable tutorial, I feel inspired to make some of my own explosion experiments this weekend :)
er, let me be more specific in that they would also be the same soapy-type explosion experiments..
Here's the specific recipe I followed: http://www.sciencebob.com/experiments/toothpaste.php
thanks! I post a pic of my results if I manage to stay inspired long enough to actually do it
@snapster Anna's Hummingbird is a large breed.
haha! thanks - I needed a laugh today!
Pretty sure @matthew followed the measure-once, cut-once anti pattern when cutting that vinyl tube.
you are supposed to measure? That's where I have been going wrong this whole time ...
Thanks to artful editing, you can't tell my actual procedure is: cut once, regret cutting, measure once, cut once again
@matthew I look forward to the eventual supercut of outtakes of your regret in each video.
Matthew should add stingers at the end of each video with outtakes.
I think the video needs some fire. Oh wait, that wouldn't be mediocre. What you documented there certainly is on the right track!
I recorded music for this, so it's finished. Look forward to tolerating this clip at the end of all Mediocre videos from now until such time as everyone gets tired enough of it to force me to change it:
It's possible the space to the left of the ooze will be used for picture-in-picture links to other specific Mediocre vids; we'll see.
I like it. Short and oozy.
