Patreon: pay people to produce stuff
1With all of the hype and hubbub surrounding crowdfunding, I thought this take on it was pretty interesting: http://www.patreon.com/
Basically you 'become a patron' of the people/projects you want to support and pay a certain amount per project or amount of time. In return you get a few perks (much like Kickstarter) usually including exclusive content.
I think this is a really good idea for projects that don't require a big chunk of money up front and it seems like it would encourage constant interaction and accountability.
I do wonder what the vetting process is for the creators. Would they care if I asked for money to make one mediocre stick figure drawing a week, and could I trick people into paying me for it?

If your stick figures are great, it won't be a trick.
It's pretty well guaranteed that they'd be terrible at worst and mediocre at best.
