Question about reply notifications via email...

Does the system automatically send out an email notification when I reply? I often find myself making edits after I post a reply comment -- and I'm just wondering if the recipient get's the edits via email or if they get the unedited message?

I believe the notification emails go out only after the edit window has closed, so they get any edits you've made.
