So the holidays are over....
1With reindeer, carols, midnight countdowns and all that other holiday bullshit behind us (or is it?), I suppose it's time to return to work and move on with the new year.
But on last look at the holiday season of 2013... who has an interesting new year's resolution, received a bizarre white elephant gift or is returning something you totally didn't even want this year? OR more positive, who received something awesome that you love and adore?

I'll start with this: I was given a cow tea kettle.
I am honestly thrilled by it! :)
It goes pretty well with this item, that I already own:
I'm quickly becoming a crazy cow lady.
Not really bizarre, but my parents gave me a Dr. Who t-shirt and I don't even like dr. who
also apparently a car
Was the car particularly boxy and blue?
@spitfire6006006, car with a license plate frame that says "my other car is a tardis"?
no but i actually did buy one of those for my roommate
I got some pretty awesome dish-ware: I may need to throw a party soon to use it! These are just some of the colorful selections..
My dad gave me a 'possum skull, (mostly cleaned of its soft tissue) that had fallen out of a tree behind my parents' lakeside cottage this past summer. It wasn't really for Christmas, just at Christmas. Still, my weirdest gift.
@matthew, How do you respond to the gift of a 'possum skull?
I pretended to be dead
I still have a holiday celebration this coming weekend. It just never ends. I can't wait to get the wrapping paper out of my room. Of course, if I actually wrapped things ahead of time, instead of day before or morning of........
Best gift : a large bag of cinnamon jolly ranchers. No. I'm not sharing.
I like green apple the best, or maybe strawberry or cherry or watermelon or...
One of the biggest hits in our white elephant gift exchange was this Lighting Reaction Shock Game that @plinville purchased. It basically plays some creepy music while the light pulses red, then when the light turns green the last person to press their button gets shocked. I'm pretty surprised that we didn't get one as a Seligman gift!
(Here it is on Amazon)
Side note - Amazon suggested that people frequently purchase a Flingshot Flying Screaming Monkey with it.
@halesyeah, The recipient of that game sent me a picture of her and her college friends playing a blindfolded version of the game! I wish I had remembered to get that for the Mediocre team via the Seligman experiment...
yeah me too :(
I normally do not return items but I received a very expensive item from Nordstrom that I will never use. Since the half-yearly men's sale is going on right now, this is a perfect time to take it back for store credit and get some things I really need.
@halesyeah, We did get a pen that shocks you when you click it. Manny got me with it.
I received a GoPro. Not sure what I'd use this for since I don't really do anything extreme. Still trying to figure out ways to hurt myself and film it in first person.
We moved into a place with high ceilings (and high shelves), so I got my wife this, but she seems a little less than enthused to try it out, despite me telling her that cyborgs are the way of the future:
Yesterday a box arrived containing the Christmas items I couldn't carry on the plane home. Included: One 'possum skull, ready for cleaning. It's in this specialized shipping container.
@matthew, open the container and take a deep breath. Is it smelly? If I don't hear from you, I'll assume that it is and that you passed out.
I have prior knowledge that it is, in fact, stinky (though not as stinky as you might guess). So I won't be opening it until it's time.
I got this little guy, who's now casually sitting on my desk awaiting April.
