Speciality delivery 'box' services
2
I know some of these have been around for a while, but it seems like I've heard a lot more about them recently.
From Fashion to Food to Pets and of course Geek Culture, it seems like people enjoy having a box of random crap delivered to their door (who knew?).
Does anyone subscribe to any of these services? What do you think, and are they worth it?

I subscribed to https://naturebox.com/ for a while in an attempt to introduce my picky eater kids to new foods, but the surprise and novelty factors weren't enough to overcome their aversions / phobias. I would continue subscribing if we lived in an area that lacked good grocery stores, but we have plenty of healthy options so I stopped.
That's a good point, I didn't think about the added value of using the service in areas that don't have access to natural or healthy grocers
I had subscribed to Goodies, but I wasn't sure the $8 a month was worth it. It was a random assortment of items and while some were things I have never seen before, I got packages of fig newtons (for example). I like the idea of these services, but I wish there was more customization/value for the buck. Like I didn't want any more waters/juices because they were just empty calories. Had I been able to say send me more cookies, sweets, and savory items ... But, hey, they shut themselves down. And now with a little one on the way ... a baby box would be quite unique ... get the goods out to people who then promote it on social media - kind of like bzzagent but more items and more frequency.
Seems like you have 2 options for Baby Boxes right now: https://wwws.citruslane.com/ and https://www.bluum.com/
Well Bob's my uncle. thanks @jont
I did quarterly.co for a bit, Kottke's in particular, but when I moved I just canceled as much stuff as I could. It was fun to get a thoughtful package, more than just random crap, but ultimately it still wasn't particularly useful and it was a little pricey. (And currently not even available.)
Here's my idea: You pay a monthly fee, and I come to your house and take something away that you don't really need.
i'd pay for that.
A lot of my stuff is things I don't really need. That said, if you take any of my games, I will be very upset.
Will you include paperwork in that ? Will you organize stuff when you are here too ? If yes to at least one, sign me up.
I got my other half a 3 months subscription to lootcrate for Christmas. While the first one made for a fantastically stuffed stocking, we didn't renew after the 3 months were up.
The overall value was there, the themes were interesting, too. There just wasn't enough of a 'useful' factor in the boxes.
I've been ogling naturebox, but haven't pulled the trigger.
@Thumperchick I have Lootcrate and sadly will be cancelling this much. Just find it underwhelming.
I just learned about Nerd Block, which seems like a more expensive version of the Geek LootCrate.
For her birthday 2 years ago, I got my wife a quarterly.co subscription for a couple of authors she loved. They were relatively cheap back then (and actually worth the value), but after one of them was 4 months late, we decided to cut it off.
I just signed up for Nerdblock for May since it was Star Wars themed. Will report back.
@hart Forgot to report back. It was OK but wasn't the value I was expecting.
Naturebox was fun for a couple months, and some of the snacks were really good, but it was hard to justify the subscription. I also tried Plated, which was a disappointment. Confusing directions and portions are a lot smaller than they show in pictures. Great customer service though.
I subscribe to Graze which sends healthful snacks through the mail. You can choose your duration and I get mine every two weeks. It is decent for the price (I think $7) but I tend to forget about them and have three boxes stacked up right now.
I would totally give you guys five bucks a month to send me a piece of junk in a box. Not that I assume that's your hidden agenda or anything, @JonT. No, you're too smart for that. (wanders off to check whois for fukubukuro.com)
PS, I'm good on XBoxes, but could use a PS4 or two thx
