There is no tax on candy in Calif. (At least until the politicians figure out that they can say candy makes you fat & unhealthy, so for our own good health we need to tax it like Cig., soda, etc)
@Timmac48 I guess you don’t remember when California tried that back in the early '90s. I was in a band named “Taxable Snacks” that was named after that very thing. Having tax authorities try to figure out the difference between food and snack food was a mess. One instance I remember is that a whole pie was food, so not taxable, but a piece of pie was taxable. Hopefully we’ve learned to not try that again. Proposition 163 put an end to that.

Sales tax should be the only tax you pay on candy. I lived in Delaware where there is no tax on anything you buy except cars.
Everything seems to be taxable nowadays.
