The benefits of being mediocre. We can save $25k?
0Pretty hilarious business model brewing - the .sucks TLD is offering discount early registrations before they start charging $25,000 a year for companies to maintain registration of their .sucks domain.
Absurd blackmail or important consumer-rights and free speech platform?
(I sort of hope for the latter, though I suspect the blackmail perspective probably becomes mainstream and 'wins' out, blocking this)

It'd be great to have reverse-trademark-protection for satire purposes - anyone can register this domain except the trademark holder.
I'm not sure what mediocre.sucks would even mean. If you were familiar with Mediocre Laboratories you might expect it to mean "that Mediocre Laboratories company sure does suck" but if you just saw this domain in the wild you'd likely be pretty confused... thinking "yeah it sucks to be mediocre".
Would be pretty cool to have reverse-trademark-protection like @dave says. I often type "{technology-name-here} sucks" into Google when evaluating new tools and services. This would make it official.
