The New Yorker: “It’s probably the closest we’ll get to meeting an intelligent alien.” With their ovoid, head-like mantles, octopuses even look the part. They have relatively large brains, three hearts, and a decentralized nervous system that confers incredible motor dexterity—and they can squeeze through any opening larger than their beaks.
It's hard to make them leave without breakfast once they do that beak thing.
My favorite article on their intelligence and such. It made me wonder if aliens aren't really deep in the ocean and not out in space. Or maybe both. I could never eat one. They are too fascinating and I have too much respect for them.
