A live, online flea market. Limited number of sellers. Seller must be present and interact with buyers/browsers. Haggling allowed. No robot sellers unless they pass the Turing Test, at which point we wouldn't know they were robot sellers.
This would be kinda neat! Though as stated in the haggling thread, I would most likely end up paying full price or even more somehow.
A universal local pizza ordering system
Yes, with a price/coupon matching function.
Yes, and you could integrate it with major POS systems
There was an app for that, didn't do so well. https://twitter.com/ordermapper
A Superbowl commercial with each frame divided into 12 equal rectangles. 30 seconds * 30 frames per second * 12 - $4M = profit
Yes, and one of them is for free anti-siezure medication.
Dollar Shave club, but for bras
Yes, and....wait, what??
Yes, and without the shaving part.
Like this... Yes, and the users can customize the fit
Yes, and several types of support options.
Yes, and several different fabric options.
Shaving Bras for a Dollar. Genius!
So... motorboating results in the smoothest face you've had since you were a baby?
@MeatieOgre, Do you think we really need to require passcodes because I'm still working on my KS user id.
Momma always told me not to click on unknown links.
"Something like Nest but for your beard" is an idea @lukeduff had in a really important meeting one time. Me and @snapster and @dave and @derek all just kinda looked at one another.
Yes, and you could check the beard status of all your friends too
Yes, and BeardNest could monitor vital signs like a better FitBit, but for your beard
Yes, and realtime updates on current fashionability of your beard.
Yes, and I'd personally endorse it.
An innovative pivot that disrupts the framework of the ephemeral market space through iterative positioning and branding
Now you're talking like paper-bag @snapster
I think Nigerian scams could really be improved by this approach - why can't they iterate faster.
Hmmm, the Dollar Shave Club is a smart business idea (As @MeatieOgre pointed out...), but why not with other toiletries?
-Toilet Paper Club: Each month, get a new roll of toilet paper. You could opt for the 2-ply or the double roll.
-Feminine Napkin Club (Or Tampon Club)... Self Explanatory
-Toothbrush Club: You're supposed to change your toothbrush every month, right? So do that.
I could go on...
I got all-of-the-above covered here using Amazon Subscribe & Save. Great program.
Yes and you could choose to get N-month supply delivered at once (in prep for the fall of civilization)
I think the Menstrual club has legs because those products are high-margin (like razors).
Yes, and you could suspend deliveries for gestation
The menstrual box of the month club exists - and it's expensive.
Yes, and it would include chocolate. Good chocolate.
The current offerings include chocolate & more - periodpacks.com & helloflo.com are the 2 I've heard of.
A niche craft supply locator. It would specialize in locating all of the tools and supplies you need to complete any craft/pinterest type project.
DarbySmart sends you all the supplies you need for popular pinterest diy's - darbysmart.com
@halesyeah - and now I've ordered from them. Thanks for the head's up!
Be sure to let me know how it turns out! I've always been curious.
A men's sock of the month club. Men actually do like cool socks but they do not want to be seen in stores buying them.
Yes, and they should arrive wrapped in pornography so no one would know we ordered socks.
We have a few guys around here that subscribe to footcardigan.com and I love seeing what new designs they get
Speak for yourself, I bought these with pride:
Yes and... is there a women's club already? if not then how about just "Sock of the month club". although, I'm fine wearing men's socks.
Sell items based on clues alone. You never know exactly what you are getting. Only the clues and a price.
Thats a sweet idea, and keep adding clues until it sells out.
Yes, and perhaps the price increases as clues are added.
Yes, and it's like a reverse 20 questions. Every posting starts out with, "It is organic/inorganic"
Most annoying store ever:
The only way to see what we're selling is to find a daily ad we bought on one of a couple hundred sites. Clicking it takes you into the checkout process.
The ultimate Where's Waldo of ecommerce
@hales - I just got my order from Darbysmart. Here are my first impressions:
1) Shipping feels slow, even though it only takes about a week to show up.
2) Their branding is on point. Each project comes housed in an aqua blue shoebox with their logo and chevron lines.
3) You open it and there's a description card, with a picture of the completed project, and instructions on the back. All easy to read, with pictures, straightforward.
4) Everything you need to complete the project is in the box, no less, no more.
5) They break down projects by difficulty/time to complete.
So overall, if you are an avid crafter, you probably don't need this service - you would have all of the tools, some of the supplies on hand, etc. It would cost less to just supplement what you have with the odds and ends you need.
If you are a project specific crafter, this may be a good way to go. You don't have to buy tools/supplies that you will only use once, no going to more than one place, etc.
It won't scratch a "I want to do this right now," itch. I will work out well for a small scale project you want to do - or planning a craft party with friends, or doing something with your kid(s).
Definitely worth checking out. Thanks for the head's up!
Oh, since this isn't long enough, I figured I'd share:
I ordered the Chalkboard Planters project and a Mystery Box. The Mystery Boxes aren't sold all the time, and they are broken into difficulty categories, and cost $10. This is what they sent me. Thought you would find that interesting.
TL:DR - pretty cool!
I love the idea of the mystery box! For $10 I'd try it! Just curious, what did you end up planting?
Oh, and another note, I agree that it's a great idea for a craft/wine night with a small group. I'll let you know if I try that!
I just got the boxes today - haven't completed anything yet!
Junk of the month: Subscribe and save on every automatic shipment of stuff you didn't even know you didn't want. And it's exclusive. The first shipment contains 2 codes you can hand out to friends so they can join. If both your codes are used, you get one free shipment, and 4 codes. Once used, 8 codes and two free shipments, up to a total of 16 free codes and four free shipments once all 16 are used up. No more than 8 free shipments per year, and people's success below you don't help you, so it's not a pyramid.
