dave thought this was worth mentioning said Mon, Mar 31st 2014 at 6:07pm ET

Is it just me, or has April Fool's day gotten boring? There's only so much "we got bought out!" "we're getting shut down!" and "we redesigned to some terrible design" you can take each year.

And, who knows, maybe I'll get back into it next year if we come up with something good. But for this year, count on us for your most mediocre April Fools Day - one without any fooling.

Any predictions what sites will be up to come midnight tonight? (And if it's after midnight, anyone manage to break through the old/busted jokes with something actually fun?)

For me it's hard to beat the classic from EGM:

I think the heyday of April Fool's jokes was pre-Internet. Now it's expected and too easy to recognize. Still, I hope to get a chuckle or two out of tomorrow.

at this point (and maybe for years now), the only reason I check for april fools gags is so I'll be in on the joke in case anyone I know tells me they thought one of them was funny -- this ends the conversation quicker :)

I think I ruined my wider enjoyment by laughing too much at our own early woot ones.
