Back. The whole family's tall so when we remodeled the bathroom I had them raise the showerhead. Now, not only does it hit you in the face, but when rinsing your hair, it splashes over the top of the shower doors and gets everything about a foot out wet.
Yes, I realize that you wash all sides. The question is which direction is your default stance? I'm a back to the shower sort of person. I can retro-rationalize it as my back needs more cleaning as it's harder to scrub manually.
Believe it or not I used to be a sideways soaker. After some serious reformation it's all about the back.....which pays the price in winter by being dry and cracked. More reformation necessary?

Face the water. Don't be a coward
Um, you're supposed to wash and rinse all of the things. Not just your face or back.
BOTH.
It depends, am I supposed to be alone?

I really am both, I start facing front, then switch back and forth a few times during my shower.
Lean in?

I make good use of the hand held shower head. It moves so I don't have to. As a bonus I get lots of singing practice into my "mic".
Back
Apparently, I'm weird (well...weirder than I thought). I stand sideways and let the water hit my shoulder.
I shower rotisserie style.
I have it pointing away from me, so that I can lather up without it rinsing away...
Also, I have a handheld showerhead because I'm tall.
