Why do you star stuff? The most starred topics so far.
7The other day I banged a stick against the cage of one of our developers to rouse him from a coding trance and had him pull some information about the forums for me, thanks @harrison!
Here are the topics with the most stars on the forum and the number of stars they have:
- Video: Seligman Findings - 19
- The End of #seligman (pics, stats, and a wrap-up) - 18
- Meet Mediocre: Let's Meet Jon -17
- Inside the Mediocre Recording Studio -14
- Hello, pile of beta testing friends... - 13
- Some mediocre stats, aka: who are you people? - 12
- Home Golf Simulator Buildout - 10
- Fun Fact: When I was working at Amazon, I had seniority over Jeff Bezos. - 10
So why do you star stuff? What makes something worth the effort of clicking/tapping? How would you feel about having a limited amount of stars to give each day/week?
If you have any other ideas or feedback about the system lemme hear it.
Note: no developers were harmed in the making of this post.

The biggest reason I star stuff is to highlight it, so that when I'm glancing through the forums, I recognize topics I'm interested in, or participated in.
For comments, it's more like a walk by high five, or the head nod.
Good to know!
@jont - exactly
The stars are right. I have awakened from my programming slumber. Look upon my visage, and despair.
(You're welcome, @jont)
I star both topics and comments to say "you have provided me something worth spending a modicum of my time on".
Interesting to compare this with the top topics by page view:
Who knew Google Voice numbers were so hard to come by?
Code Bracket. Because Science.
Home Golf Simulator
The End of #seligman
Mediocre Make-Up Tutorial
And here the top starred comments (links go to the comment if you want to add to the star count):
Yay! I made number 7!!!
@JonT I starred that comment just because it'll get insanely meta if it makes it into the top 10 next time.
One time I saw stars when I was hit in the head by a baseball. But back on topic, why limit the number of stars given out? This would make me star crossed.
Just an idea, don't go all super nova on me!
Your fault! I didn't planet that way.
You guys are just revolving around the real issue.
Alright, sunshine, do you want us to make you the center of our universe?
I thought that the stars we earned were going to be paid out in currency.
NO MONEY IS INVOLVED!? F#$! this. I'm out.
Each star you earn will be worth 1 Mediocoin, which is worth 0.001 dogecoin.
Clicking on stars breaks up the mediocrity of forums.
